ROAD RACE
Our annual road race will be on Saturday, June 28 at 9:00 am. This 5K race has gained increasing participation over the years, and is a fundraiser for the National Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation. It is also a memorial to Erin Roberts, a young resident of Hanover who died from the disease. You may obtain an entry form here, as well as a sponsor sheet if you would like to gain visibility for your business or organization. Steve Avitable was the winner of our "Spend It in Hanover" slogan contest (shown with Chamber president, Beth Sobiloff). Steve won a $100 gift certificate and his slogan will be used in promotional activities for the Chamber and for local businesses over the next year.

We are please to have Tom Burke of Citigroup Smith Barney assuming the role of president for the coming year. Cathy Follett of Renovisions will be the new vice president. Pat Beers has agreed to remain as treasurer.

The Annual Meeting was held on May 22 this year. (see photos) Recipients of awards included:
Business person of the Year: Charlie Drea of Conway Insurance; Beautification Award: Dr. Dominic Mazzocco, whose new office at 247 Hanover Street stands where the old VFW building was.
$1000 scholarships were awarded to the following graduating seniors: Cameron Chinetti, Ross Jenkins, Marc MacDougall, and Mary Rafferty.
The Hanover Chamber joined seven other chambers in an after-hours event at WATD radio station in Marshfield. Over 100 people attended and received tours, delicious food, and excellent networking opportunities. Ed Perry, owner of WATD, discussed a little of the history of his radio station.
At Tsang's Restaurant, Jim O'Brien of Witsop Corporation gave a presentation on the Village of Hanover project that is underway just off Route 53. The complex will include over 100 urban-style homes, office space, shopping areas, restaurants, and even a performing arts center, as well as numerous acres of conservation land.
